About the Role
When you work in ESH’s Science Department, you will be part of a multicultural team of passionate teachers delivering lessons across four language sections. We value teamwork and a culture of collaboration in which we, as teachers, are lifelong learners. Our students are generally actively engaged in class, helpful and have a positive attitude. We are looking for a teacher who is not only intent on encouraging our gifted and talented learners to go beyond the classroom, but who also values the educational journey of all students in the classroom. As a Teacher of Integrated Science and Biology, you will:
- Deliver engaging Integrated Science lessons to students aged 11-14 and Biology lessons to students aged 14-18, following the European Baccalaureate curriculum.
- For this role, the majority of the classes will be Integrated Science, with some Biology age 14-16. In future years, there is the possibility to teach higher levels in Biology.
- Plan and deliver safe lessons involving lab experiments in both subjects.
- Encourage creative thinking and skill development through a variety of teaching methods.
- Create an inclusive classroom environment where every student’s talent is nurtured.
- Collaborate with a team of passionate educators to support a thriving science program.
What We’re Looking For
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Biology (or a related subject). Your teaching qualifications must meet the Dutch Education Authorities’ DUO standards.
- Proficiency in English at a C2 level (CEFR).
- Experience teaching students aged 11–18, ideally in international or intercultural settings.
- Open and positive attitude to long-term feedback (learning never ends).
- Hands-on, proactive approach and ability to differentiate.
- Professional attitude (e.g., meeting deadlines, maintaining a professional workspace).
- Team player mentality for collaborating with colleagues, students, and parents.
- Positive general demeanor.
- A creative, inclusive approach to teaching and a willingness to contribute to extra-curricular activities.
- Knowledge of additional EU languages is an advantage.

· We offer a salary aligned with the Dutch Collective Labour Agreement (CAO VO). The salary is a minimum of 3622€ and a maximum of 5520€ for a full-time contract on the LB scale. The salary scale and the step offered will depend on your level of experience.
